a good understanding have all they that do His commandments:

His praise endureth for ever.

Proverbs 1 to 10   =   Counsel for Young Men

♣ ♥ ♣

“Wise Up!” … Worship is the first step to wisdom.

*The fear of Jehovah/Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge.

Wisdom and discipline are what mere fools have despised.*

– Proverbs 1:7

“Walk Straight!” … The straight and narrow has the lowest accident rate.

*The purpose is that you may walk in the way of good people

and that the paths of the righteous ones you may keep.*

– Proverbs 2:20

“Directions” … Ask Almighty God Jehovah/Yahweh about everything;

He knows every road.

*In all your ways take notice of Him, and He Himself will make your paths straight.*

– Proverbs 3:6

“Watch Your Step!” … Every step molds your character; Step Well.

*Smooth out the course of your foot, and may all your own ways be firmly established.*

– Proverbs 4:26

“Listen” … to the voices of the sages and walk on straight paths set

by Lord God Almighty Jehovah/Yahweh from heavens above.

*For the ways of man are in front of the eyes of Jehovah, and He is contemplating all his tracks.*

Proverbs : 5:21

“Jehovah/Yahweh God’s Black List”

… pride, lies, murder, deceit, mischief, betrayal, discord.

There are six things that Jehovah does hate;

yes, seven are things detestable to his soul:

Lofty eyes, a false tongue, and hands that are shedding innocent blood,

a heart fabricating hurtful schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness,

a false witness that launches forth lies,

and anyone sending forth contentions among brothers.*

– Proverbs 6: 16-19

“A Bad Woman” – read carefully and heed the warnings about

conniving loose immoral women.

*That is why I have come out to meet you, to look for your face, that I may find you.

With coverlets I have bedecked my divan, with many-colored things, linen of Egypt.

I have besprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.

Do come, let us drink our fill of love until the morning;

do let us enjoy each other with love expressions.

For the husband is not in his house; he has gone traveling on a way of some distance.

A bag of money he has taken in his hand.

On the day of the full moon he will come to his house.”

She has misled him by the abundance of her persuasiveness.

By the smoothness of her lips she seduces him.

All of a sudden he is going after her, like a bull that comes even to the slaughter,

and just as if fettered for the discipline of a foolish man,

until an arrow cleaves open his liver, just as a bird hastens into the trap,

and he has not known that it involves his very soul.

And now, O sons, listen to me and pay attention to the sayings of my mouth.

May your heart not turn aside to her ways.

Do not wander into her roadways.

For many are the ones she has caused to fall down slain,

and all those being killed by her are numerous.

The ways to She´ol her house is; they are descending to the interior rooms of death.*

Proverbs : 7:15-27

“Riches” … Rubies of wisdom commands the highest price on the market of character values.

*For wisdom is better than corals, and all other delights themselves

cannot be made equal to it.*

– Proverbs 8:11

“More Fun” … Nothing you ought NOT to do is ever more fun. Wait till you see what results.

*“Stolen waters themselves are sweet, and bread [eaten] in secrecy—it is pleasant.”

But he has not come to know that those impotent in death are there,

that those called in by her are in the low places of She´ol.*

– Proverbs 9:17-18

“Wanted! Silence” … wordy men seldom are wise men.

*In the abundance of words there does not fail to be transgression,

but the one keeping his lips in check is acting discreetly.*

– Proverbs 10:19

PROVERBS CHAPTER 8

The Discourse of Wisdom

1 Does not wisdom call out?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 On the heights along the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 beside the gates leading into the city,
at the entrances, she cries aloud:
4 “To you, O men, I call out;
I raise my voice to all mankind.
5 You who are simple, gain prudence;
you who are foolish, gain understanding.
6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say;
I open my lips to speak what is right.
7 My mouth speaks what is true,
for my lips detest wickedness.
8 All the words of my mouth are just;
none of them is crooked or perverse.
9 To the discerning all of them are right;
they are faultless to those who have knowledge.
10 Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
12 “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence;
I possess knowledge and discretion.
13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil behavior and perverse speech.
14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine;
I have understanding and power.
15 By me kings reign
and rulers make laws that are just;
16 by me princes govern,
and all nobles who rule on earth.
17 I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me.
18 With me are riches and honor,
enduring wealth and prosperity.
19 My fruit is better than fine gold;
what I yield surpasses choice silver.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness,
along the paths of justice,
21 bestowing wealth on those who love me
and making their treasuries full.

The Eternity of Wisdom

22 “The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works,
before his deeds of old;
23 I was appointed from eternity,
from the beginning, before the world began.
24 When there were no oceans, I was given birth,
when there were no springs abounding with water;
25 before the mountains were settled in place,
before the hills, I was given birth,
26 before he made the earth or its fields
or any of the dust of the world.
27 I was there when he set the heavens in place,
when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
28 when he established the clouds above
and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
29 when he gave the sea its boundary
so the waters would not overstep his command,
and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
30 Then I was the craftsman at his side.
I was filled with delight day after day,
rejoicing always in his presence,
31 rejoicing in his whole world
and delighting in mankind.

The Blessings of Wisdom

32 “Now then, my sons, listen to me;
blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Listen to my instruction and be wise;
do not ignore it.
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.
35 For whoever finds me finds life
and receives favor from the LORD.
36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself;
all who hate me love death.”

”If we (freely) admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just

(true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins (dismiss our lawlessness)

and (continuously) cleanse us from all unrighteousness (everything not in conformity to

His will in purpose, thought, and action)”

(1 John 1:9)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous so as to forgive us our

sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – NWT

Cleaning the oven is not my favorite thing to do. In fact, it slides down to bottom of my

“to do” list several times before I actually make it a priority. I know I am not the only

person who feels this way. The owner of the house we moved into obviously disliked

cleaning ovens even more than I do. It was very dirty and hadn’t been cleaned for a

long time. I put it through the self-clean cycle then used SOS pads to clean the build

up around the edges. But the build up on the front bottom part of the oven and door

were so caked on that I had to take a screwdriver to scratch it off.

let not our hearts be like a dirty oven with crusts of ungodly habits
let not our hearts be like a dirty oven with crusts of ungodly habits

ζ

Finally it was clean.

As I was scrubbing the oven, I compared the dirty oven with our hearts. People can’t

see inside our ovens, or our hearts, but God can and it can be pretty dirty. I remember

so vividly the time when I asked Jesus into my life at the age of 12. I asked Him to

forgive my sins. He cleansed me and I felt so clean. At the age of 30, I learned about

spiritual breathing (confessing our sins and appropriating the Holy Spirit). I learned

I could be “clean” all the time – moment by moment.

However, sometimes we become so busy that we don’t spend time daily with the

Lord and His Word. We become sloppy and accumulate ungodly habits that are like

the caked on grease at the bottom of my oven. You have to work at getting rid of those.

Worry, ungratefulness, critical attitudes, etc. We need to confess them immediately

and begin thanking the Lord for all His blessings, start thinking “good, pure thought”

and focus our thoughts on God and His sufficiency.

If we spend quiet time with the Lord and His Word, He will point them out to us.

Many, many times a day, we have to do this to change our ungodly habits.

Purify our hearts Daily
Purify our hearts Daily

Don’t let your oven (heart) get dirty – keep it clean.

What are your “caked on” habits?

Admit your sins and He will cleanse you.

TEN BIBLICAL RULES FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE

Never bring up mistakes of the past. Stop criticizing others or it will come back on you. If you forgive others, you will be forgiven.

(Luke 6:37)

Neglect the whole world rather than each other. And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process?

(Mark 8:36)

Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled. And don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry.

(Ephesians 4:26)

At least once a day, try to say something complimentary to your spouse. Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

(Proverbs 15:4)

Never meet without an affectionate welcome. Kiss me again and  again, your love is sweeter than wine.

(Song of Solomon 1:2)

For richer or poorer” – rejoice in every moment that God has given you together. A bowl of soup with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate.

(Proverbs 15:17)

If you have a choice between making yourself or your mate look good, choose your mate. Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.

(Proverbs 3:27)

If they’re breathing, your mate will eventually offend you. Learn to forgive. I am warning you, if another believer sins, rebuke him; then if he repents, forgive him. Even if he wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, forgive him.

(Luke 17:3,4)

Don’t use faith, the Bible, or God as a hammer. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

(John 3:17)

Let love be your guidepost. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged.

(1 Corinthians 13:4,5)
