a good understanding have all they that do His commandments:

His praise endureth for ever.

Psalms 111:10

♣ ♥ ♣

“False Economy” – a gift is never lost; only what is selfishly kept impoverishes.

*There exists the one that is scattering and yet is being increased;

also the one that is keeping back from what is right, but it results only in want.*

Proverbs : 11:24

“Fools” – you cannot convince a fool of his folly; only a wise man will accept rebuke

for his foolhardiness.

*The way of the foolish one is right in his own eyes, but the one listening to counsel is wise.*

Proverbs : 12:15

“Lying” – righteousness and lying are enemies; to a wicked man they are synonymous.

*A false word is what the righteous hates, but the wicked ones act shamefully and

cause disgrace for themselves.*

Proverbs : 13:5

“False Witness” – one lying tongue can cause one death or a massacre.

*A faithful witness is one that will not lie, but a false witness launches forth mere lies.*

Proverbs : 14:5

“A gentle answer turns away wrath” – two people ought not to get angry at the same time.

*An answer, when mild, turns away rage,

but a word causing pain makes anger to come up.*

Proverbs : 15:1

“Clean Sin” – a man deep in wickedness will invent “pretty names for sin”

*All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,

but Jehovah is making an estimate of spirits.*

Proverbs : 16:2

“Ungratefulness” – a man who had received kindness and spurned the gift with

evilness will heap coals of fire upon his own bosom and family.

*As for anyone repaying bad for good, bad will not move away from his house.*

Proverbs : 17:13

“To Win Friends” – a friendly man will have friends; being a relative does not

ensure being a friend.

*There exist companions disposed to break one another to pieces,

but there exists a friend sticking closer than a brother.*

Proverbs : 18:24

“Slothfulness” – a lazy man will endanger his family and have no food for winter.

*Laziness causes a deep sleep to fall, and a slack soul goes hungry.*

Proverbs : 19:15

“Drink Up” – When you decide for strong drink, don;t be surprised when it

decides against you.

*Wine is a ridiculer, intoxicating liquor is boisterous,

and everyone going astray by it is not wise.*

Proverbs : 20:1

Proverbs 1 to 10   =   Counsel for Young Men

♣ ♥ ♣

“Wise Up!” … Worship is the first step to wisdom.

*The fear of Jehovah/Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge.

Wisdom and discipline are what mere fools have despised.*

– Proverbs 1:7

“Walk Straight!” … The straight and narrow has the lowest accident rate.

*The purpose is that you may walk in the way of good people

and that the paths of the righteous ones you may keep.*

– Proverbs 2:20

“Directions” … Ask Almighty God Jehovah/Yahweh about everything;

He knows every road.

*In all your ways take notice of Him, and He Himself will make your paths straight.*

– Proverbs 3:6

“Watch Your Step!” … Every step molds your character; Step Well.

*Smooth out the course of your foot, and may all your own ways be firmly established.*

– Proverbs 4:26

“Listen” … to the voices of the sages and walk on straight paths set

by Lord God Almighty Jehovah/Yahweh from heavens above.

*For the ways of man are in front of the eyes of Jehovah, and He is contemplating all his tracks.*

Proverbs : 5:21

“Jehovah/Yahweh God’s Black List”

… pride, lies, murder, deceit, mischief, betrayal, discord.

There are six things that Jehovah does hate;

yes, seven are things detestable to his soul:

Lofty eyes, a false tongue, and hands that are shedding innocent blood,

a heart fabricating hurtful schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness,

a false witness that launches forth lies,

and anyone sending forth contentions among brothers.*

– Proverbs 6: 16-19

“A Bad Woman” – read carefully and heed the warnings about

conniving loose immoral women.

*That is why I have come out to meet you, to look for your face, that I may find you.

With coverlets I have bedecked my divan, with many-colored things, linen of Egypt.

I have besprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.

Do come, let us drink our fill of love until the morning;

do let us enjoy each other with love expressions.

For the husband is not in his house; he has gone traveling on a way of some distance.

A bag of money he has taken in his hand.

On the day of the full moon he will come to his house.”

She has misled him by the abundance of her persuasiveness.

By the smoothness of her lips she seduces him.

All of a sudden he is going after her, like a bull that comes even to the slaughter,

and just as if fettered for the discipline of a foolish man,

until an arrow cleaves open his liver, just as a bird hastens into the trap,

and he has not known that it involves his very soul.

And now, O sons, listen to me and pay attention to the sayings of my mouth.

May your heart not turn aside to her ways.

Do not wander into her roadways.

For many are the ones she has caused to fall down slain,

and all those being killed by her are numerous.

The ways to She´ol her house is; they are descending to the interior rooms of death.*

Proverbs : 7:15-27

“Riches” … Rubies of wisdom commands the highest price on the market of character values.

*For wisdom is better than corals, and all other delights themselves

cannot be made equal to it.*

– Proverbs 8:11

“More Fun” … Nothing you ought NOT to do is ever more fun. Wait till you see what results.

*“Stolen waters themselves are sweet, and bread [eaten] in secrecy—it is pleasant.”

But he has not come to know that those impotent in death are there,

that those called in by her are in the low places of She´ol.*

– Proverbs 9:17-18

“Wanted! Silence” … wordy men seldom are wise men.

*In the abundance of words there does not fail to be transgression,

but the one keeping his lips in check is acting discreetly.*

– Proverbs 10:19

Jerusalem of Gold (Y’rushalayim Shel Zahav)

Jerusalem of Gold

by Marty Goetz

The olive trees that stand in silence
Upon the hills of time
To hear the voices of the city
As bells of evening chime.

The shofar sounding from the Temple
To call the world to prayer
A shepherd pauses in the valley
And peace is everywhere.

Yerushalayim shel zahav
Ve-shel nehoshet ve-shel or
Ha-lo le-khol shirayikh
Ani kinnor.

The water well for those who thirsted
The ancient market square
Your golden sun that lights the future
For all men everywhere

How many songs, how many stories?
These stony hills we recall
Around her heart my city carries
A lonely ancient wall

Yerushalayim shel zahav
Ve-shel nehoshet ve-shel or
Ha-lo le-khol shirayikh
Ani kinnor.

My simple voice cannot acclaim thee
Too weak the words I choose
Jerusalem if I forget thee
May my right hand its cunning loose

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Forever new, yet forever old
My heart will sing your songs of glory, Jerusalem.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, O City with a heart of gold
My heart will sing your songs of glory, Jerusalem.

JERUSALEM OF GOLD

by Naomi Shemer

As clear as wine, the wind is flying
Among the dreamy pines
As evening light is slowly dying
And a lonely bell still chimes,
So many songs, so many stories
The stony hills recall …
Around her heart my city carries
A lonely ancient wall.

Yerushalaim all of gold
Yerushalaim, bronze and light
Within my heart I shall treasure
Your song and sight.

Alas, the dry wells and fountains,
Forgotten market-day
The sound of horn from Temple’s mountain
No longer calls to pray,
The rocky caves at night are haunted
By sounds of long ago
When we were going to the Jordan
By way of Jericho.

Yerushalaim all of gold
Yerushalaim, bronze and light
Within my heart I shall treasure
Your song and sight.

But when I come to count your praises
And sing Hallel to you
With pretty rhymes I dare not crown you
As other poets do,
Upon my lips is always burning
Your name, so dear, so old:
If I forget Yerushalaim
Of bronze and light and gold …

Yerushalaim all of gold
Yerushalaim, bronze and light
Within my heart I shall treasure
Your song and sight.

Back to the wells and to the fountains
Within the ancient walls
The sound of horn from Temple’s mountain
Again so loudly calls,
From rocky caves, this very morning
A thousand suns will glow
And we shall go down to the Jordan
By way of Jericho.

Yerushalaim all of gold
Yerushalaim, bronze and light
Within my heart I shall treasure
Your song and sight.

2011 FOOD CRISIS

Grain shortages, soaring prices, food riots Mar 2011’s beginning

Violent food riots in Iran, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco
and Mozambique and mounting protests in
India, Jordan, Indonesia and elsewhere at the very
outset of 2011 are alarming many government officials.
They fear extreme weather conditions that have wiped out
thousands of acres of crops in the world’s largest grain exporting
nations portend skyrocketing prices and widespread
uprisings throughout the world as the new year
begins.
In 2008, higher grain prices triggered food riots and
protests in nearly three dozen poor countries, including
Egypt, Indonesia, Mexico, Kenya, Somalia, Burkino Faso
and Cameroon. Philippe Chalmin, a French economic adviser,
said Jan. 6 that violence could especially flare this
spring because of a spike in cereal grain prices.
“I’m very concerned. … For the cereals, I expect very
strong tension around March, April. There are no more
stocks available with the large exporters,” Chalmin told the
Bloomberg news agency, which reported that corn prices
rose 52 percent and wheat prices 47 percent in Chicago last
year.
The Washington Post reported on Jan. 14: “The state of
emergency in Tunisia has economists worried that we may
be seeing the beginnings of a second wave of global food
riots. Battered by bad weather and increasing demand from
the developing world, the global food supply system is
buckling under the strain.”
The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization
(FAO) announced that its food price index jumped 32 percent
to an all-time high in the second half of 2010, “surpassing
the previous record, set in the early summer of
2008, when deadly clashes over food broke out around the
world, from Haiti to Somalia,” the Post reported. “We are
entering a danger territory,” a top FAO official warned.

FOOD RIOTS IN ALGERIA

Algeria_Food Riots_Survival of the Fittest

Estimated corn reserves were cut to about half the level in
storage at the start of the 2010 harvest; soybean reserves
are at the lowest levels in three decades, and the ratio of
stocks to demand is expected to fall later this year to “levels
unseen since the mid-1970s,” msnbc.com reported Jan. 14.
“I haven’t seen numbers this low that I can remember in the
last 20 or 30 years,” Dennis Conley, a University of Nebraska
agricultural economist, told MSNBC. “We are at
record low stocks. So if there is any kind of glitch at all in
the U.S. weather, supplies are going to remain tighter, and
we might see even higher prices.”
Many mainstream news media outlets and economists
are starting to realize that massive grain shortages,
steeply rising food costs and worsening hunger in Third
World countries pose a grave threat to the global economy
and world peace.
These ominous end-time developments were predicted hundreds
of years ago in Bible prophecy and are coming to
pass with alarming speed! So far this year, corn is up 63
percent; wheat, 84 percent; soybeans, 24 percent; and
sugar, 55 percent in price!
As the Philadelphia Remnant recently forewarned regarding
the black horse of famine described in the Book of
Revelation: “The black horse symbolizes grain shortages,
steeply rising food costs and mass starvation, which is beginning
to accelerate as the black horse starts to gallop
throughout the world! … This scene described by the Apostle
John shows extreme inflation and severe grain
shortages. No longer will food costs be relatively inexpensive!”
(“The Black Horse Gallops,” September/October issue)
“The price of grains began to rise last fall after fires in Russia
wiped out hundreds of thousands of acres of grains and
heavy rain destroyed much of Canada’s wheat crop. The
problems were followed by hot, dry weather in Argentina
that devastated the soybean crop of the key exporter. This
month, floods in Australia destroyed much of the country’s
wheat crop,” the Washington Post reported. Much of the
Ukraine’s grain harvest also was eradicated by extreme
heat.
JP Morgan, a major investment bank, said Australian food
prices could rise as much as 30 percent in coming months
as a result of devastating floods in the Queensland region,
which is one of the world’s largest exporters of wheat and
sugar cane. Other grains, fruits and vegetables also have
been adversely impacted.
“The bank’s chief economist in Australia said 50 percent of
crops had been affected by the floods, with 20 percent
wiped out,” the BBC reported on Jan. 11. Flooding also
damaged crops in Pakistan last year.
In a Jan. 12 article, the Financial Times reported: “The
world has moved a step closer to a food price shock after
the U.S. government surprised traders by cutting stock
forecasts for key crops, sending corn and soybean prices to
their highest level in 30 months.”
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the nation’s
2010 corn stockpiles will fall to 745 million bushels or 18.9
million tons, the lowest since 1996. It predicted that global
corn production will plunge by 20.1 million tons, 17 percent
worse than expected in December.

ONION/POTATO VENDOR IN INDIA WITH SCALES

India_onion potato vendor with scales

U.S. soybean stockpiles may slide to
3.82 million tons before this year’s
harvest from 4.49 million tons estimated
last month and 4.1 million tons
last year, the USDA said. Global soybean
inventories were projected at
58.28 million tons before the next harvest
versus 60.1 million tons estimated
in December and 60.2 million tons a
year ago.
Meanwhile, soybean production in Argentina,
the world’s third-largest producer,
is forecast to fall 15 percent to
47 million tons this year because of
severe drought. India’s billion people
are seeing food prices rising at an annual
rate of 18 percent – with the steepest increases for
onions and potatoes, which have doubled in price.
“Some experts warned that the world could be on the verge
of a ‘nightmare scenario’ of cut throat competition for the
control of shrinking supplies,” the Telegraph reported on
Jan. 7, noting millions of the world’s poor must spend 80
per cent of their income on food. Adding 80 million people
a year, the world’s population is expected to soon exceed
seven billion. A sharp increase in prices could be catastrophic.
Lester Brown, Earth Policy Institute president, told the
Telegraph: “The reality is that the world is only one poor
harvest away from chaos. We are so close to the edge that
politically destabilizing food prices could come at any
time.”
Brown said if a heat wave were to hit Chicago and the Midwest
(the U.S. breadbasket), like what scorched Moscow
and Russia’s crops last year, the U.S. harvest could slump
40 percent, spiraling prices “off the chart” and causing “the
global economy to start to unravel.” Such weather extremes
are increasing, he noted.
In the Jan. 10 issue of Foreign Policy, Brown observed: “In
France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, wheat yields
are no longer rising at all. These three countries together
account for roughly one-eighth of the world wheat harvest.”
He predicted the unrest in recent weeks is “just the beginning.

… It is … spreading food shortages and rising food
prices – and the political turmoil this would lead to – that
threatens our global future.”

Revelation 6:5-6 describes this frightening development
with graphic symbolism: “When He (Christ) opened the
third seal, I heard the third living creature say, ‘Come and
see.’ So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who
sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a
voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, ‘A
quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for
a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.’ ”

This scene shows extreme inflation and severe grain shortages.
No longer will food costs be relatively inexpensive!

Christ showed in the parable of the vineyard workers that a
denarius, a form of Roman currency, was a full day’s
wage! (Matthew 20:1-2)

The black horse symbolizes a time when a full day’s wage
will buy only about a quart of wheat and only three quarts
of barley for extremely expensive loaves of bread! No
longer will bread be abundant or inexpensive!
Look for global food shortages to become more acute,
prices to soar and tensions to escalate into violence in
2011 as hungry people turn desperate and Bible
prophecies are fulfilled in greater intensity!

The Jewish Dream

*The song starts at 7 minutes*

DREAMING

The morning rays strike the place
Masada’s heroes fought
Our tears swell for those who fell
Forever in our thoughts
Dreaming of some day at hand
When innocent blood no longer stains the sand
The glistening sea of the Galilee
Reflects the azure sky
Birds’ sweet trill from Tzfas’ hills
Echo as they fly
Dreaming of some future time
When joyful songs replace the siren cries

So with hope we lift our eyes to you, Jerusalem
G-d’s grace will surely rise from you, Jerusalem
Though for thousands of years we’ve been scattered
In you our prayers are gathered
Near and far, any place we are, Jerusalem

So we take you in our heart and soul, Jerusalem
We will never ever let you go, Jerusalem
For all that we’ve had to endure, now
Israel’ll be strong and secure now
G-d will help us through
Dreams do come true, Jerusalem

Machpela Cave given away
No more to hear our prayers
Walls cast gloom on Rochel’s tomb
We still have much to fear
Dreaming of the perfect dawn
When new griefs no longer must be mourned

In her mountain coves, under olive groves
They long for time to spend
But the Golan Heights and border fights
Her young soldiers must defend
Dreaming of some coming day
When tools of war can be forever thrown away

So with hope we lift our eyes to you, Jerusalem
G-d’s grace will surely rise from you, Jerusalem
Though for thousands of years we’ve been scattered
In you our prayers are gathered
From near and far, any place we are, Jerusalem

So we take you in our heart and soul, Jerusalem
We will never ever let you go, Jerusalem
For all that we’ve had to endure, now
Israel’ll be strong and secure now
G-d will help us through
Dreams do come true, Jerusalem

The Kotel’s stones hear the moans
Of desperate groups of Jews
We must unite in Israel’s fight
We have so much to lose
Dreaming of a day to be
When we walk our land, together, proud and free!

So with hope we lift our eyes to you, Jerusalem
G-d’s grace will surely rise from you, Jerusalem
Though for thousands of years we’ve been scattered
In you our prayers are gathered
So we turn to you, each and every Jew, Jerusalem

So we take you in our heart and soul, Jerusalem
We will never ever let you go, Jerusalem
For all that we’ve had to endure, now
Israel’ll be strong and secure now
G-d will help us through
Dreams do come true, Jerusalem

Avoid that “Slip” in Life

Avoid That Slip

Proverbs 3:23

“In that case you will walk in security on your way, and even your foot will not strike against anything.”

That is to say, if we follow the ways of wisdom and holiness we shall be preserved in them. He who travels by daylight along the highway is under some protection. There is a way for every man, namely, his own proper calling in life, and if we devoutly walk therein in the fear of God He will preserve us from evil. We may not travel luxuriously, but we shall walk safely. We may not be able to run like young men, but we shall be able to walk like good men.

slipping and falling if not walking the path of godliness

Our greatest danger lies in ourselves: our feeble foot is so sadly apt to stumble. Let us ask for more moral strength that our tendency to slip may be overcome. Some stumble because they do not see the stone in the way: divine grace enables us to perceive sin and so to avoid it. Let us plead this promise and trust in Him who upholds His chosen.

Alas! Our worst peril is our own carelessness, but against this the Lord Jesus has put us on our guard, saying, “Watch and pray.”

Oh, for grace to walk this day without a single stumble! It is not enough that we do not actually fall; our cry should be that we may not make the smallest slip with out feet but may at the last adore Him “who is able to keep us from stumbling.”

The DOOR to WISDOM

PROVERBS CHAPTER 8

The Discourse of Wisdom

1 Does not wisdom call out?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 On the heights along the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 beside the gates leading into the city,
at the entrances, she cries aloud:
4 “To you, O men, I call out;
I raise my voice to all mankind.
5 You who are simple, gain prudence;
you who are foolish, gain understanding.
6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say;
I open my lips to speak what is right.
7 My mouth speaks what is true,
for my lips detest wickedness.
8 All the words of my mouth are just;
none of them is crooked or perverse.
9 To the discerning all of them are right;
they are faultless to those who have knowledge.
10 Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
12 “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence;
I possess knowledge and discretion.
13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil behavior and perverse speech.
14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine;
I have understanding and power.
15 By me kings reign
and rulers make laws that are just;
16 by me princes govern,
and all nobles who rule on earth.
17 I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me.
18 With me are riches and honor,
enduring wealth and prosperity.
19 My fruit is better than fine gold;
what I yield surpasses choice silver.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness,
along the paths of justice,
21 bestowing wealth on those who love me
and making their treasuries full.

The Eternity of Wisdom

22 “The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works,
before his deeds of old;
23 I was appointed from eternity,
from the beginning, before the world began.
24 When there were no oceans, I was given birth,
when there were no springs abounding with water;
25 before the mountains were settled in place,
before the hills, I was given birth,
26 before he made the earth or its fields
or any of the dust of the world.
27 I was there when he set the heavens in place,
when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
28 when he established the clouds above
and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
29 when he gave the sea its boundary
so the waters would not overstep his command,
and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
30 Then I was the craftsman at his side.
I was filled with delight day after day,
rejoicing always in his presence,
31 rejoicing in his whole world
and delighting in mankind.

The Blessings of Wisdom

32 “Now then, my sons, listen to me;
blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Listen to my instruction and be wise;
do not ignore it.
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.
35 For whoever finds me finds life
and receives favor from the LORD.
36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself;
all who hate me love death.”

*** Just Warn Me About My SOUL ***

Although you know I’m homeless,
need shelter from the cold.
Don’t give me a coat and bag of food,
just warn me about my soul.

Now time is moving swiftly,
growing feeble weak and old.
The shelter I need is in His arms,
just warn me about my soul.

old and gray

For if my soul’s in danger,
that’s something I must be told.
Don’t fill my plate with food and drink,
just warn me about my soul.

You see I’m in an emergency,
and sin has taken its toll.
It’s spiritual food I need the most,
just warn me about my soul.

Every Soul's Spiritual Food

The thing I need you to feed me,
bread of life to make me whole.
My body dies but my spirit lives on,
just warn me about my soul.

Don’t try to give me money,
don’t need silver cash or gold.
If you really cared about my fate,
you’ll warn me about my soul.

money

You’ll tell me I’m spiritually dead,
I’m lost under Satan’s control.
You’ll tell me how Jesus died for me,
you’ll warn me about my soul.

You’ll tell me about His love,
good news you should never withhold.
Gave up His life just to save mine,
you’ll warn me about my soul.

You see I’m in spiritual trouble,
my life Satan easily could have stole.
The one’s I’ll love when I finally get home,
those who warned me about my soul.

For at my day of judgment,
I’ll stand at eternity’s threshold.
I’ll enter in as one of the flock,
I was warned about my soul.

My life will be everlasting,
a splendor that can’t be told.
A life I’d never have,
if not warned about my soul.

And now I’m a king in heaven,
I’ve finally reached my goal.
The thing I credit to my success,
was the warning about my soul.

Suit of Armor from God_Word of God

Ephesians : 6 : 10-18 [NWT]

10 Finally, go on acquiring power in [the] Lord and

in the mightiness of his strength.

11 Put on the complete suit of armor from God that YOU

may be able to stand firm against the machinations of

the Devil;

12 because we have a wrestling, not against blood and

flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities,

against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked

spirit forces in the heavenly places.

13 On this account take up the complete suit of armor from

God, that YOU may be able to resist in the wicked day and,

after YOU have done all things thoroughly, to stand firm.

14 Stand firm, therefore, with YOUR loins girded about

with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness,

15 and with YOUR feet shod with the equipment of the good

news of peace.

16 Above all things, take up the large shield of faith, with

which YOU will be able to quench all the wicked one’s

burning missiles.

17 Also, accept the helmet of salvation, and the sword of

the spirit, that is, God’s word,

18 while with every form of prayer and supplication YOU

carry on prayer on every occasion in spirit.

REMEMBER GOD’S SABBATH DAY

JEHOVAH/YAHWEH GOD’S SABBATH DAY

The Forgotten 4th Commandment

♥ ♥ ♥

JESUS/YAHSHUA is “Lord of the Sabbath.”

(Matthew 12:8)

♥ ♥ ♥

“Keeping the sabbath day to hold it sacred, just as Jehovah your

God commanded you, you are to render service and you must

do all your work six days. But the seventh day is a sabbath to

Jehovah your God. You must not do any work, you nor your

son nor your daughter nor your slave man nor your slave girl

nor your bull nor your ass nor any domestic animal of yours

nor your alien resident who is inside your gates, in order that

your slave man and your slave girl may rest the same as you.”

(Deuteronomy : 5:12-14)

New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures

As important as any of our works or commitments are, even for the Lord,

resting on Sabbath takes precedence.

Even the work of God was not permitted to be elevated above the command

to rest on the Sabbath.

It is to be observed as a perpetual covenant, throughout time and generations.

Why is keeping Sabbath so important?

Because it’s a special sign between God and His people.

“Between me and the sons of Israel it is a sign to time indefinite,

because in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth

and on the seventh day he rested and proceeded to refresh himself.”

(Exodus 31:17)

Character in Life

Great Souls Experience Great Sorrows

Material stuff and trinkets are easily earned, but usually the most
valuable and most precious things carry a heavy price and often
times with harsh, grueling and toilsome labor.  Sometimes lofty
heights of power and awesome wealth are always bought with
blood, if there is enough of blood to be spilled.
To attain the greatest value and character in life, it needs our
acceptance of flexibility to adapt to ever changing winds of trials
and tribulations for they are not thrown at us randomly;  it’s
brought upon to chisel us to be precious gems in order to meet
with our Almighty God’s standards as wholesome loving
respectful human beings.
We are brought upon our knees under circumstances of intense
fire of trials and afflictions so that we may exercise our utmost
faith and trust in Almighty God Yahweh (JEHOVAH) and forever
be thankful in Yeshua (Jesus) as our Savior, the Atoner for our
sins and the intercessor between God and men.
So, do not despair in times of troubled storms for when God brings
us that deluge of tempest, He is using time which He is in control,
to deal with us with patience so that we will learn to lean our all,
heavily upon Him.

Character in Life

Great truths are dearly bought, the common truths,
Such as we give and take from day to day,

Come in the common walk of easy life,
Blown by the careless wind across our way.

Great truths are greatly won, not found by chance,
Nor wafter on the breath of summer dream;

But grasped in the great struggle of our soul,
Hard buffeting with adverse wind and stream.

But in the day of conflict, fear and grief,
When the strong hand of God, put forth in might,
Plows up the subsoil of our stagnant heart,
And brings the imprisoned truth seed to the light.

Wrung from the troubled spirit, in hard hours
Of weakness, solitude and times of pain,

Truth springs like harvest from the well-plowed field,
And our soul feels it has not wept in vain.

The Words and Messages We Deliver …

Part One

Part Two

Part Three

Part Four

The above shows that whatever comes out of a man/woman  defiles him/her.

Matthew 15:18 – “However, things proceeding out of the mouth

come out of the heart, and those things defile a man/woman.”

We, at all times, should be clothed with right attitudes and gracious speech.

A thoughtless word, untimely spoken, drives ripples of hated, anger and

bitterness and it can never be taken back.  Unfortunately mouthing a zillions

of  “I’m sorry” might not mend the tightest of bonds as the respect and trust

and love has been somewhat violated.  Words uttered can never be retrieved

to be buried anywhere, though being forgiven for the thoughtlessness of it.

Henceforth, we should always ‘think before we speak’ as in Proverbs 15:4,

King Solomon quotes that “The calmness of the tongue is a tree of life, but

the distortion in it means a breaking down in the spirit”.

Humility

♣ ♥ ♣

WHY IS “HUMILITY” AN INGREDIENT IN WISDOM?

Humility generates truth and objectivity.

Humility is freedom. Your personality expresses

itself in an organic, internally generated, and

more real way.

Humility is pleasure. Arrogance is pain.

Humility enables you to embrace others.

Humility deepens your relationship with God.

Until you know what you are willing to die for,

you have not yet begun to live.

Rain On Me

RAIN ON ME

Holy Spirit of the L-rd, rain down on me
Let me now receive Your gifts abundantly
Let them be to serve my G-d eternally
Holy Spirit of the L-rd rain on me

Holy Spirit of the L-rd rain on this place
As we enter in Your presence to seek Your face
We will come before Your throne singing Your praise
Holy Spirit of the L-rd rain on me

Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit rain on me
Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit rain on me

Holy Spirit of the L-rd rain on Israel
Prophesies and dreams and visions
Young and old to tell
Let them call upon Yeshua and drink from the well
Holy Spirit of the L-rd rain on me

Holy Spirit of the L-rd rain on the earth
Let the people hear Your Word and see what it’s worth
Let the world receive Your Spirit and the Rebirth
Holy Spirit of the L-rd rain on me

Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit rain on me
Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit rain on me

IF … Poem by RUDYARD KIPLING

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run –
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man my son!

*** Rudyard Kipling ***

10 Seconds

“If one is patient in a moment of anger,

one would escape a hundred days of sorrow.”

“Anger of the mind is poison to the soul.”

“When a man is wrong and won’t admit it,
he always gets angry.”

There are severe consequences and ramifications if we let our self-control

run rampant; so we need to learn how to control the emotions of the flesh,

the weakness in every soul. Anger is detrimental to our emotional and

spiritual well-being and do remember that anger is a friendly “sister”

trait to the Devil.  If we let anger simmer inside of us every time that

we’re being provoked, intimidated, wrongly rebuked or accused or

even rightly reprimanded due to our own faults; and stop to think

rationally for a moment before we fly off the handle to fight back for

the sake of  perceived rightful justification, we are bound to overstep

into boundaries of no return and be on the precipice of doing something

that we’ll regret for a lifetime. So, cut off the wrong and bad attitudes

of pride, anger and rebellion and not let it take root for the Devil is

always waiting on the sidelines for opportunities and moves in

for the kill to plot our downfall and thus when we are so dispirited

with our failures in life, we’ll start to lose our faith in God.

Anger nullifies all the humility and love that personifies us as a loving

child of God.

“When you are caught in the heavy rains of anger,
open the umbrella of mind, take refuge under the
roof of reason!”

Do not turn into “HULK” all the time,
it doesn’t pay …in the end.

The price is too high for our loss of self-control; whatever situation we

find ourselves in, from bad habits to anger to lust to envy to fear and not

forgetting arrogance and pride, we should have a gauge to measure our

self-control always and it’s got to be kept at bay and checked because our

Almighty True God JEHOVAH in the heavens above is never pleased

with that and we’ll definitely be admonished and pruned in a manner

worthy in God’s eyes.

The Plane Tree

comfort and shade under a Plane Tree

TWO TRAVELERS, worn out by the heat of the summer’s sun,

laid themselves down at noon under the wide spreading

branches of a Plane-Tree. As they rested under its shade,

one of the Travelers said to the other, “What a singularly

useless tree is the Plane! It bears no fruit, and is not

of the least service to man.”

The Plane-Tree, interrupting him, said, “You ungrateful

fellows! Do you, while receiving benefits from me and

resting under my shade, dare to describe me as useless,

and unprofitable?”

SOME MEN UNDERRATE THEIR BEST BLESSINGS!

The Devil’s Convention

BUSY: Being Under Satan’s Yoke?

The Devil’s Convention ….

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.

In his opening address he said, “We can’t keep Christians from going to church.”

“We can’t keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth.”

“We can’t even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their savior.”

“Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken.”

“So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners,

BUT steal their time, so they don’t have time to develop a relationship with

Almighty God Jehovah and Jesus Christ, His Son.”

“This is what I want you to do,” said the devil: “Distract them from gaining

hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!

” “How shall we do this?” his demons shouted. “Keep them busy in the non-essentials

of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,” he answered.

“Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.”

“Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work

6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.”

“Keep them from spending time with their children.”

“As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the

pressures of work!” “Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear

that still, small voice.”

“Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive.”

“To keep the TV, VCR, DVD, CDs and their PCs, going constantly in their

home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays

non-biblical music constantly.”

“This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ.”

“Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers.”

“Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day.”

“Invade their driving moments with billboards.”

“Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes,

and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products,

services and false hopes.”

“Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands

will believe that outward beauty is what’s important, and they’ll become

dissatisfied with their wives.”

“Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night.”

” Give them headaches too! “If they don’t give their husbands the love they

need, they will begin to look elsewhere; thus committing adultery!”

“That will fragment their families quickly!”

“Even in their recreation, let them be excessive.”

“Have them return from their recreation exhausted.”

“Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God’s creation.

Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead.

“Keep them busy, busy, busy!”

“And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk

so that they leave with troubled consciences.”

“Crowd their lives with so many good earthly causes they have no time to seek

power from Jehovah God and His Son, Jesus Christ.”

“Let them be involved in soul-winning, but crowd their lives with so many causes

that they have no time to seek power from God and Christ. Soon they will be

working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good

of the cause.”

“It will work!” “It will work!”

It was quite a devilish clever plan!

The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere

to get busier and more rushed, going here and there and everywhere.

Having little time for their God or their families.

Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.

I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes?

You be the judge!!!!!

Does “BUSY” mean: Being Under Satan’s Yoke?

Satan’s goal is to take our minds away from Jehovah God and Jesus Christ

and steer us towards the cares of the world. God wants us to enjoy life,

but He must be our first priority in our lives. If we are too busy for the

One True God Jehovah and His Son, Jesus Christ, then we are too

busy being earthly busy. The Day of Wrath of Jehovah and Jesus Christ

Second Coming is upon the whole world; Wake Up and Pray Up and

not be lead away by Satan’s schemes and temptations or else we’ll have

to face the consequences with regrets and be written out of the

Book of LIFE and God’s Kingdom.

The HOUR is at HAND.

The Hour is at Hand

JEHOVAH – ONE AND ONLY TRUE ETERNAL ALMIGHTY GOD

The Bible

God's Holy Scriptures

THE BIBLE

Adam  and Eve  they started it all
In that beautiful garden before the big fall

The Devil enticed them, and that fruit they did eat
They were thrown out of Eden, into the street

Enoch lived to the age, of three hundred sixty five
And he walked with God while he was still alive
Many years later, the earth became corrupt
God said to Noah, “My temper will erupt”

“Build yourself an ark, the dimensions I will give
Your family and earth’s creatures, are going to live”

Before the rains came and the water began to soar
God said “Noah get in the ark, and don’t open the door”

When land appeared and the waters were on the wane
Noah said to his sons, “start the thing over again”

The world spoke one tongue, and built the Tower of Babel
But God confused their speech, it was tough to play Scrabble

At age seventy-five, the Lord told Abraham
“Take Sarah and Lot, and go to Canaan”

“I will make you a great nation, and I will bless
All this land will be yours, for you to assess”

Isaac was born, to continue the line
He became very rich, God’s blessing did shine

Twins were born to Rebekah, after an ordeal
They hairy one came first, the other gripping his heel

“Two nations are they, and one shall pass the other
Esau the red, will serve Jacob his brother

The blessing went to Jacob, because Isaac was blind
He wrestled with God, to receive an anointing divine

Twelve sons he received, and it was a big deal
They became the fathers, of the tribes of Israel

To get rid of Joseph, his brothers made a plot
But in Egypt he landed, and became a big shot

Now famine hit Israel, and the family did pack
And traveled to Egypt, for the food they did lack

But Jacob and the eleven, were in for a surprise
They recognized Joseph, with tears in their eyes

The twelve tribes lived in Egypt, for many a year
They multiplied so fast, the Pharaoh did fear

He suppressed them in slavery, and it remained so
Until Moses came along, and said “Let my people go”

Ten plagues did it take, before the Pharaoh made it clear
He told Moses and Aaron, “get the heck out of here”

Moses led his people, about three million or more
For forty years in the desert and across the sea floor

God’s presence was with them, it was an awesome sight
A massive cloud by day, and raging fire by night

With Manna coming from Heaven, and water from a rock
There was enough to sustain them, and all of their stock

Moses was a true friend of God, they talked face to face
No greater man ever lived, that had God’s grace

“Curse Israel, Balaam,” said the great king Balak
But Balaam chickened out, when a donkey talked back

Joshua and Caleb, crossed the Jordan one day
And kicked the heathens out of Israel, in a multi-year fray

Now Israel was camped, in the Promised Land
But they continued to fight, to further expand

When Joshua passed on, the Judges took rule
It was their job, to keep things running cool

The heathens attacked Israel, and Othniel did slam
Cushan-rishathaim, the king of Aram

When Israel served Moab, Ehud was up to the test
He defeated king Eglon, and had an eighty year rest

The army of Canaan, could not withstand the attack
Of ten thousand Israelites, led by Deborah and Barak

When Gideon and the three hundred, blew their trumpets one night
The Midianites and Amalekites, got up and took flight

After Jephthah subdued Ammon, it was a real shame
There was nobody in Israel, who could pronounce his name

So mighty was Samson, a lion he slew by its den
Then with the jawbone of an ass, he killed one thousand men

He had a big weakness, for a Philistine maiden
He woke up one morning, and found his head shaven

But the anointing returned, when his hair grew back
And the Philistine temple, he gave a good whack

With Ruth’s self sacrifice, and moral integrity
She became David’s great grandma, and gave him a legacy

Samuel was the last of the Judges, and he anointed Saul
As the first king of Israel, he was handsome and tall

But Saul went bad, and when it was time to depart
David came on the scene, a man after God’s heart

A great king was David, in the Lord’s sight
A little shepherd boy, who liked a good fight

He made some mistakes, but to God he would go
To get his sins forgiven, and continue to grow

Solomon was next in line, and under his reign
He built the Lord’s Temple, and increased the domain

He was the wisest of all kings, but later in life
He worshipped some idols, causing his country much strife

When Solomon died, the kingdom split in two
Ten tribes became Israel, while Judah had two

There were many kings of Israel, and Judah as well
Some followed God, and some followed Baal

Now God is alive, and will be ever more
Baal is a stone, that sits on the floor

But the people bowed to the stone, and idols of wood
And that was the end, of God’s old neighborhood

Asa, Jehoshaphat, Joash and Amaziah
Azariah, Jotham, Hezekiah, and Josiah

They were good kings, and did things to please God
But most of the others, did things that were odd

Ahab and Ahaz, were two of the worst
And Manasseh was so bad, he left Judah a curse

God sent many prophets, to turn things about
Some would dress funny, while others would shout

One of the best was Elijah, that the Lord sent
Away in a flaming chariot, to Heaven he went

He never really died, and there are rumors that say
He is coming back to earth, on a future day

Elisha had a double anointing, and it was said
He even performed a miracle, after he was dead

The destruction of the two kingdoms, Isaiah did preach
But the people did not listen, to his God-fearing speech

There were twelve minor prophets, as great as the rest
They answered His call, they all passed the test

Nahum and Habakkuk, Joel and Zechariah
Amos and Hosea, Haggai and Zephaniah

Micah and Malachi, Jonah and Obadiah
They preached the Lord’s prophecies, and did it with fire

The prophets tried to tell them, they went to every door
But the people worshipped idols, and sinned all the more

They sinned against the Lord, once too often my friend
The Assyrians attacked, and brought Israel to an end

The northern kingdom was gone, the people had fled
Judah hung in there, just by a thread

Another fierce army, was beginning to loom
Jeremiah did his best, to stop the oncoming doom

But Judah was stiff-necked, and went their own way
They turned their backs to God, His prophets they slay

And it was not too long, before their number was up
Because Judah and Israel, drank the same cup

Now God is slow to anger, but don’t push your luck
Keep on sinning my friend, and you’re a dead duck

Down came Nebuchadnezzar, and the men of Babylon
Judah was destroyed, the Temple was gone

Ezekiel became a prophet, in the Babylonian exile
He preached of restoration, that would come in a while

Daniel showed Nebuchadnezzar, the things that will come
A high post he was given, and a ruler of some

The Jews were in exile, for year after year
They begged God for mercy, their prayers He did hear

A Persian ruler was Cyrus, and a good man was he
He was a servant of God, and the Jews did he free

Back to the homeland, some of them came
They rebuilt the Temple, but it was never the same

Nehemiah and Ezra, and some other good men
Rebuilt the cities, and got things going again

Beautiful Esther talked, to the Persian king
And saved the Jewish people, from a slaughtering

But Israel was dominated, for many years more
The Persians, Greeks and Romans, all stood on their shore

The Old Testament has ended, and so has BC
But now comes the good part, the start of AD

In the days of King Herod, an angel appeared
To Zechariah and Mary, and both of them feared

To the Virgin Mary He said, “Hail favored one
The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and give you a Son

You shall call His name Jesus, He is a Godsend
His reign will be forever, His Kingdom will not end”

These two events, happened six months apart
John was born first, to the desert he did depart

He baptized the people, and told them to repent
He was making things ready, for the One to be sent

Magi came from the east, guided by a star
To see the new king, they traveled afar

They found the Baby Jesus, the one who is foremost
In a Bethlehem manger, with a heavenly host

Jesus met John, at the Jordan one day
“Behold the Lamb of God,” is all John could say

John baptized Jesus, the Heavens opened above
The Holy Spirit descended, in the form of a dove

Jesus went into the desert, for a forty-day fast
Satan tried to tempt Him, but he could not outlast

Jesus quoted some scriptures, forcing Satan to leave
The Word of God is final, Satan could not deceive

Walking the shores, of the Galilee Sea
He met James and John, the sons of Zebedee

“Leave your nets my friends, and come walk with Me
And fishers of men, are what you will be”

Twelve disciples, Jesus did choose
He taught them and gave them new powers to use

Peter and Andrew, Matthew and the rest
One was a devil, the others were blessed

A miracle He performed, at a wedding one time
Six jars of water, He turned into wine

In Cana it happened, the first of His signs
And His disciples starting believing, He was divine

Jesus preached to the people, He gave an account
And no better sermon did He preach, than the one on the Mount

He taught about anger, adultery and law
And to love your enemies, as you had not before

On a boat with His Disciples, there came up a squall
The boat took on water, it became a catchall

The Disciples asked Jesus, “are we to perish?”
He rebuked the storm, the waves did diminish

There came five thousand, to hear the Lord preach
They went hours without food, to hear Jesus teach

Some bread and two fish, He held up to bless
They had plenty to eat, with food in excess

All the sick came to Him, and it’s always His aim
To heal everyone, whether deaf, blind or lame

He cannot stand, to see anyone in pain
Yesterday or today, the healing’s the same

Lepers were cleaned, and the blind could see
Even the dead were raised, and the possessed set free

The crowds had gathered, to hear His call
He healed everyone, He healed them all

A woman caught in sin, had violated a law
“Stone her” yelled the crowd, with a mighty uproar

Jesus said to the crowd, words that would atone
“Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone”

When time was getting short,
He gathered His Disciples
For the Last Supper,
during which He gave out:

A piece of bread as His Body, and wine as His Blood.
To the Mount of Olives they went, the mob came like a flood

It was there He was betrayed, by Judas His friend
His Ministry on earth, had come to an end

He was sent to Golgotha, by Pilate to be
Mocked as a king, and nailed to a tree

Satan thought he had won, now that Jesus was dead
He saw Him on the cross, and all the blood that was shed

But Satan had no idea, of what was ahead
What seemed to be his victory, was Satan’s loss instead

On the third day, the stone rolled from the tomb
And when Jesus arose, it was the end of our doom

The battle was finished, at a great cost
But with Jesus alive, Satan knew he had lost

He is alive today, the right hand of God He does sit
Still doing miracles and healings, and it’s definite

To earth He will return, like a thief in the night
To clean the earth of evil, and to make things right

The Apostles took over, when Jesus ascended
The Holy Spirit came upon them, and they superintended

The spread of the Gospel, through the known world
For God they were working, and the harder they toiled

On His way to Damascus, traveled a man named Saul
He was blinded by a light, to the ground did he fall

“Why do you persecute Me.” he heard Jesus call
It was there he was converted, and became known as Paul

A great witness for Jesus, Paul then became known
He preached to the Gentiles, was righteous to the bone

He was beat with a whip, and struck by the stone
But you cannot be broke, when you’re one of Christ’s own

Other great disciples, on trips did embark
Timothy and Luke, Apollos and Mark

Silas and Titus, Barnabas and more
They preached the good news, to every known shore

Around 100 A.D., God appeared before John
“Get yourself a tablet, and write upon

Everything that I tell you, and everything you see
To let the world know, its future destiny”

Many visions of the future, did God reveal
Some were symbolic, and some of them real

He showed John everything, He did not conceal
How rough things will get, after He breaks the first seal

Earthquakes and pestilence, famine and war
These things will happen, like never before

And when the situation is bad, and the world is downcast
Christ will return, with a loud trumpet blast

He will take the false prophet, and the one known as the beast
And throw them into the fire, while the birds have a feast

Then Satan will be seized, and thrown into the pit
And after 1,000 years, the Lord will permit

Satan to be released, for a short season
But he goes back to his old tricks, of deception and treason

And now the pool of fire, is his final goal
Never again will Satan, ever harm another soul

When Judgment is over, and the earth is clean of sin
Down from the Heavens, the Holy City drops in

No more tears, pain or death, in that beautiful place
God is now dwelling, with the human race

The Word of God is completed, and it’s plain to see
The world needs a Savior, to act as referee

Our governments don’t work, they try all the more
Whenever they say peace, it always means war

The Jews prayed for a Messiah, to put up a good fight
To be free from oppression, and get out of their plight

But when He did come to earth, He was gentle and meek
Instead of a fight, He said “turn the other cheek”

Many prophecies in the Bible were fulfilled by Him
He went to the cross, to remove us from sin

He gave His Life for you, don’t let it go to waste
Turn your life over to Jesus, and do it with haste

A few words of meaning, can remove all your strife
And get your name printed, in God’s Book of Life

Don’t hesitate now, it’s later than you think
Jesus will return, in less than a blink

Say “Jesus my Lord, I turn my life over to You
I know You are the One, who is faithful and true

Forgive all my sins, and help me pursue
A better way of life, with a Spirit that’s new”

Say this with meaning, and you will be saved from the wrath
Stay off the broad highway, get on the constricted path

The broad road leads to destruction, and I can’t overstate
The way to eternal life, is through the narrow gate

Read the Bible every day, and walk in His Word
Repel from the sinning, don’t follow the herd

Some day face to face, with Christ you will be
He may ask you the question, “What have you done for Me?”

LAMENTATIONS – A SEQUEL TO JEREMIAH’S PROPHECY WHOM
LAMENTED SORROWFULLY OVER THEIR RUINS OF THE HOLY CITY
AND THE SACRED TEMPLE WHICH HAD STOOD FOR OVER 400
YEARS. JEREMIAH WEPT IN SEPARATE POEMS IN LAMENTATIONS
REGARDING WHY GOD HAD PERMITTED THE FALL OF JERUSALEM.
IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE SINS OF THE PEOPLE AND THEIR

THE LAST EMPIRE WILL BE SUCCEEDED BY THE COMING OF THE
KINGDOM OF GOD.

GOD JEHOVAH AND TO ASKED FOR HIS FORGIVENESS THROUGH
FASTING AND PRAYERS.  JOEL WAS PROSNOSTICATING OF THE

NEEDY AND ALSO THEIR CONTINUAL NEGLECT OF GOD’S
WORDS IGNITED GOD’S WRATH UPON OTHER NATIONS AND
JUDAH BUT ISRAEL SUFFERED THE HARSHEST OF PUNISHMENTS;
MORE SEVERE BECAUSE OF THEIR DEPTH OF THEIR SINS. AMOS’S
CHASTISEMENTS  WENT UNHEEDED AND SO ISRAEL WERE
EXILED INTO CAPTIVITY.
OBADIAH – HIS NAME LITERALLY MEANS “SERVANT OF JEHOVAH”.
THIS BOOK IS THE SHORTEST OF PROPHETICAL WRITINGS IN
JUST ONE CHAPTER WHICH FORETOLD ON THE DOOM OF EDOM,
WHO ARE DESCENDANTS OF ESAU AND THE PROMISE OF
DELIVERANCE FOR ZION, JERUSALEM.
JONAH – A LIFE OF PERIL LIVED FOR THE RELUCTANT RUNAWAY
PROPHET FROM DUTY ORDAINED BY JEHOVAH GOD. HIS MISSION
WAS TO DELIVER A MESSAGE OF REPENTANCE TO THE PEOPLE OF
NINEVEH FROM DESTRUCTION IN FORTY DAYS.
MICAH – HIS NAME INJECTS A MIGHTY STATEMENT “WHO IS
LIKE JEHOVAH”. HE FORESAW THE INVASION FROM FOREIGNERS,
THE DISPERSION OF THE ISRAELITES FOR THEIR SINS AND THE
INEVITABLE DESTRUCTION OF JERUSALEM BUT THE MOST
SIGNIFICANT OF ALL IS THAT HE IS THE ONLY PROPHET WHO
FORETOLD ABOUT THE BIRTH OF CHRIST IN BETHLEHEM [5:2]
NAHUM – A NATIVE OF GALILEE WITH A NAME “COMFORTER”
TO HIS CREDIT.  NAHUM’S PROPHECY WAS UNLIKE JONAH
WHICH WAS THE CERTAINTY OF DOOM FOR THE CORRUPT
PEOPLE OF NINEVEH WHOM HAD RETURNED TO THEIR SINFUL
WAYS. APART FROM NINEVEH, HE FORESAW JUDAH’S FUTURE
DELIVERANCE.
HABAKKUK – A PROPHET WHOSE NAME GOES BY “ONE WHO
EMBRACES” LIVED 600 YEARS BEFORE CHRIST IN TIMES
WHERE THE CHALDEANS CONQUERED NINEVEH OF THE
ASSYRIAN EMPIRE. THE “WHY” PROPHET WITH HIS
EXPECTANT  REPLY FROM HIS SINCERE PRAYER TO
JEHOVAH; LEARNT THAT WE NEEDED TO TRUST IN GOD
IMPLICITLY AND ALSO THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL LIVE BY
HIS OWN FAITH IN THE ONE TRUE GOD JEHOVAH.
ZEPHANIAH – HE PROPHESIED DURING THE REIGN OF KING
JOSIAH AND WHOSE NAME MEANS ‘DEFENDED BY JEHOVAH”.
HE FORETOLD OF UNIVERSAL JUDGMENT AND DIVINE WRATH
TO FALL UPON ALL NATIONS INCLUDING JUDAH TOO IF ALL
DEFY GOD’S LAW. ZEPHANIAH PLACED EMPHASIS ON SPIRITUAL
WORSHIP AND PREACHED THAT WORSHIP TOWARDS GOD NEED
NOT BE A PHYSICAL SANCTITY BUT IN THE QUIET SOLITUDE
OF OUR HEARTS. HE FURTHER STRESSED ON GOD’S SALVATION
AND JUDGMENT FOR MANKIND, AND ALSO THE PROMISES OF
NEW HEAVENS AND EARTH.
HAGGAI – THOUGH HE PROPHESIED FOR ONLY A SHORT TIME;
HAGGAI WHOSE NAME MEANS “MY FEAST” WAS THE FIRST
VOICE TO BE HEARD AFTER THE EXILE; HE RICOCHETED STERN
REPROOFS TO THE RESTORED PEOPLE OF GOD. HE TOLD THEM
OF THEIR DUTY TO RESTORE AND REBUILD GOD’S HOUSE OF
WORSHIP, THE TEMPLE, WHICH WAS BUILT BY KING SOLOMON
AND DESTROYED BY INVADERS. ZERUBBABEL, GOVERNOR OF
JERUSALEM AND JOSHUA, THE HIGH PRIEST AND THE PEOPLE
SET UPON THAT ENORMOUS TASK BUT WAS DISCOURAGED
EASILY. HAGGAI PIPED IN AND ENCOURAGED THEM THAT
GOD WAS WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES AND JEHOVAH
WILL BLESS JERUSALEM WITH A MUCH GREATER TEMPLE
ARRAYED SPLENDOR AND GLORY.
ZECHARIAH – “JEHOVAH REMEMBERS” IS THE MEANING OF
HIS GIVEN NAME. HE JOINED HAGGAI IN AROUSING AND
ENCOURAGING THE RETURNED CAPTIVES IN BUILDING
THE SANCTUARY OF JEHOVAH GOD. THE TEMPLE WAS
FINALLY BUILT IN FOUR YEARS AND DEDICATED TO GOD.
HIS PROPHESIES LOOKED FAR BEYOND INTO THE FUTURE,
TO THE COMING OF OUR MESSIAH AND THE DAWN OF A
BETTER AND BRIGHTER TOMORROW.
MALACHI – THE LAST MINOR PROPHET OF THE OLD
TESTAMENT AND HIS NAME BEARS “MY MESSENGER”.
HE REBUKES THE SINS AND FOLLIES OF THE JEWS. HE
PREDICTED THE PREPARATION OF HIS WAY [MESSIAH]
BY JOHN THE BAPTIST. HE ALSO REPROVED NEGLECTFUL
PRIESTS AND WARNS STERNLY ABOUT THE JUDGMENT
TO COME UPON THE NATION THAT HAD TURNED BACK TO
SINFUL WAYS AFTER BEING PROVIDENTIALLY RETURNED
FROM EXILED IN CAPTIVITY.

Thy Word

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

When I feel afraid,
And think I’ve lost my way.
Still, you’re there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

I will not forget
Your love for me and yet,
My heart forever is wandering.
Jesus by my guide,
And hold me to your side,
And I will love you to the end.

Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
And a light unto my path.
You’re the light unto my path.

The Sultan and Satan

*The Sultan and Satan*

An ancient legend from the East tells of a great sultan who was a devout man of God. One morning he overslept. When the Devil saw that the hour of morning prayer was passing, he woke the sultan and urged him to get out of bed and pray.

“Who are you?” asked the startled sultan, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

“Oh, it’s not important,” replied the shady figure. “The important thing is that I woke you up in time, otherwise you would have missed your prayers for the first time in ten years-and it is very good to pray, isn’t it?”

“Yes, that is true!” replied the sultan smugly. “I wouldn’t dream of missing my prayer time. Not even once! … But wait a minute! I think I recognize you. Yes, I know your face. Of course! You are Satan, and no doubt you have some evil motive for your appearance!”

“I’m not really as bad as you think!” exclaimed the intruder. “After all, I was God’s right-hand angel once.”

“That is all very well,” replied the wise old sultan, “but you are also the Deceiver; that is your business! So I demand in the name of God to know why you want me to get up and pray!”

“Well,” replied the Devil, having grown huffy and impatient with the sultan’s persistence, “if you must know, I’ll tell you. If you had slept and forgotten your prayers, you would have felt very sorry for it afterward and would have been quite penitent. That would have humbled you and brought you close to God. But if you continue on as you have for the last ten years, without missing a single prayer, then you will become so satisfied with yourself that it will be worse for you than if you had missed one prayer and had asked God for forgiveness. God loves your fault mixed with repentance much more than your virtue seasoned with pride!”

Often it is actually good for us to make some mistakes because if we didn’t, we’d most likely become so proud of ourselves and so self-confident that we’d no longer feel we needed any help from God or others. But in reality, when we feel so proud and self-satisfied, it’s because we’re not closer to God, but more full of ourselves.

Many people in the world today are taught that pride is a virtue. But God recognizes pride and self-righteousness for what they really are-sins of the heart! The Bible says that “pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall,” and that “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (Proverbs 16:18; James 4:6).

Quite frequently God uses our mistakes to help keep our pride in check, to keep us humble and more dependent on His goodness and strength, rather than our own. The Lord blesses humility. He gives more grace to the humble, and promises to dwell “with him who has a contrite and humble spirit” (1 Peter 5:5; Isaiah 57:15).

It has been said that out of what seems like defeat come some of God’s greatest victories. “But what kind of victory is that?” you may ask. Well, God very often uses humbling experiences to make us better people-more compassionate and understanding of the errors of others, more loving and patient, when otherwise we might not have been so. The Lord wants to use our mistakes to teach us many important lessons that perhaps we wouldn’t be able to learn any other way. So isn’t it encouraging to realize that even our failures can be for our good?

Of course, in order for the Lord to bring this good to pass, we must be honest with ourselves, be willing to confess our mistakes, and attempt to rectify them. The hardest words to say in any language are, “I was wrong!” This takes humility of the kind that only God can give, because it’s human nature to want to appear perfect and faultless, and consequently be unable to confess our mistakes.

But if we want the truth and desire God’s blessing, then we’ll honestly and humbly admit our faults and failings. Then we can take comfort in knowing that we are wiser today than we were yesterday. Contrary to what some folks seem to think, an admission of error is a sign of strength rather than weakness.

Besides, God knows you’re anything but perfect. In fact, He knows you can’t be perfect and never will be. So the crux of the matter is not whether you are perfect or not, but whether you depend on the Lord and His grace, love and mercy. Do you give Him all the glory and credit for anything good that you do? Whenever you accomplish something good, you should say, “Just thank Jesus. Don’t thank me! If I have done anything good, it’s only because the Lord helped me do so.”

A good rule to follow is this: Give God all the glory for anything good you do, and yourself the blame for anything bad. That will help keep you from falling into that horrible trap of self-righteous pride, which is the basis of virtually all sin.

So whenever you make a mistake and are then tempted to get down and discouraged, just remember the sultan’s lesson: God loves your fault mixed with repentance more than your virtue seasoned with pride!
